How does a funeral QR code work?
The QR code engraved on the plaque contains the memorial’s web address. Scanned with a smartphone, it opens that page in the browser. The plaque stores no data: it only acts as an access point.
How do you scan the QR code on a funeral plaque?
Open the phone camera and point it at the QR code. A link appears on screen: simply select it. On older phones, a QR code reader app may be needed.
Do you need to download an app?
No. The memorial opens in the phone’s browser. No Memoraluna app needs to be installed, either for you or for visitors.
Can a QR code be placed on an existing grave?
Yes. The plaque is fixed to a smooth, clean, dry surface of a monument already in place, with no engraving work or intervention on the stone.
On what surface can the plaque be fixed?
On a smooth, clean, dry surface compatible with 3M VHB adhesive: granite, marble, polished stone or metal. Porous, rough or damp surfaces are not suitable.
Can the memorial be edited after the plaque has been installed?
Yes. The memorial’s content remains editable at any time from your space, without ever replacing the plaque.
What does someone see when they scan the QR code?
They discover your loved one’s memorial: their biography, photos, videos and the memories shared by the family, according to the privacy level you have chosen.
Does the same QR code work after the memorial is edited?
Yes. The QR code points to a stable address. Changing photos, texts or videos changes neither the address nor the code printed on the plaque.
Does the QR code work with every phone?
It works with any phone whose camera can read QR codes, which is the case natively on recent iOS and Android smartphones.
Is an internet connection required?
Yes. The memorial is hosted online: a mobile or Wi-Fi connection is needed to display it after the scan.
Can the memorial be shared without standing at the grave?
Yes. The memorial has a web address that you can send by message or email, according to the privacy settings you have chosen.
Is permission required to install the plaque in a cemetery?
It depends on the site. Depending on the country, municipality or cemetery manager, prior permission may be required. We recommend enquiring before installation.
